Queens Park Rangers has signed defender Luke Young from Premier League rival Aston Villa.

The English right back is joining QPR on a three-year deal - a day after the west London club signed midfielder Joey Barton from Newcastle.

PR manager Neil Warnock says Young ''can play anywhere across the back four and that versatility will stand us in really good stead.''

The newly promoted club is investing in the squad before the transfer window closes on Wednesday in the wake of Air Asia chief executive Tony Fernandes' takeover.

The 32-year-old Young says ''there are big things that are going to happen at this football club and I am really pleased to be a part of it.''
