The German football federation (DFB) says it will meet with Philipp Lahm to discuss the ''sensitivity of dealing with internal team matters'' following the publication of sections of the Germany captain's book.

''The Subtle Difference'' has caused widespread anger among Lahm's former colleagues and ex-coaches following publication of parts of the 27-year-old's book in German daily Bild, where he criticizes former Germany coaches Rudi Voeller and Juergen Klinsmann among others.

The DFB said Thursday it will meet with Lahm before Germany's 2012 European Championship qualifier at home to Austria on Sept. 2.

DFB president Theo Zwanziger said ''our national team players must be aware of their special responsibility to the public ... I think Philipp has made a mistake.''

Lahm said ''I'm sorry'' in a statement on the DFB website Thursday.
