GLASGOW, Scotland (AP) – U.S. captain Carlos Bocanegra has signed a three-year contract with Scottish club Rangers.
The team said Wednesday it had signed Bocanegra from Saint-Etienne.
The 32-year-old defender joins U.S. teammates Alejandro Bedoya and Maurice Edu and could make his debut in the Europa League playoff against Slovenian team Maribor on Thursday.
Bocanegra began his career with the Chicago Fire before spending four seasons at Premier League club Fulham. He left for Rennes in 2008 and spent last season at Saint-Etienne.
He has made 93 appearances for the United States.
