MLS teams LA Galaxy and Seattle Sounders got off to winning starts Tuesday on the opening day of the CONCACAF Champions League.

The Galaxy defeated Montagua of Honduras 2-0 and Alajuelense of Costa Rica had a 1-0 win over Mexico's Morelia in Group A.

Seattle beat Comunicaciones of Guatemala 4-1 in Group D and, in Group B, Santos Laguna of Mexico defeated Real Espana of Honduras 3-2.

Landon Donovan scored one goal and assisted on another as the Galaxy overpowered a Montagua lineup that finished with 10 men.

Mike Fucito scored twice in Seattle's victory over Comunicaciones. Juan Arreola scored for the Guatemala side.

Substitute Christian Suarez scored the deciding goal in the 74th minute in Santos Laguna's victory over Real Espana.
