PEREIRA, Colombia (AP) – Officials in a city hosting the Under-20 World Cup in Colombia have banned fans from taking vuvuzelas to matches.
Police officer Gustavo Londono said the instruments were a nuisance during matches. Some players had complained the vuvuzelas made communication between players difficult.
The noisy vuvuzelas, made infamous at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, have made a comeback at the tournament in Colombia, especially in matches played by the host.
There are no bans yet for other stadiums.
