BREMEN, Germany (AP) – Werder Bremen has signed defensive midfielder Aleksandar Ignjovski from OFK Belgrade.
Bremen says the 20-year-old Serb has signed a three-year contract and started training with the Bundesliga club on Thursday. It gave no deals of the transfer deal.
Ignjovski was on loan last season to German second-division club 1860 Munich.
Bremen hopes to improve on its disappointing showing in the Bundesliga last season, when it finished 13th in the 18-team top division. But its season got off to a poor start with an embarrassing first-round defeat in the German Cup at third-division Heidenheim last weekend.
