Premier League newcomer Swansea has signed Leroy Lita from Middlesbrough on a three-year deal.

The 26-year-old Lita moves to the Welsh side for 1.75 million pounds ($2.9 million).

Manager Brendan Rogers said Wednesday that ''Leroy is a goal scorer and has played in the Premier League as a young player,'' adding that ''he is very hungry to return and offers that threat of his pace and power.''

Lita previously made 48 Premier League appearances with Reading across two seasons.

He will add another option to Swansea's attack alongside record-signing Danny Graham, who joined for 3.5 million pounds ($5.7 million) from League Championship team Watford.

Swansea will open its first Premier League season at Man City.
