Saudi Arabia got off to a strong start with a 2-0 victory over Croatia on Sunday in the opening match for both teams at the Under-20 World Cup.

Yasir Alfahmi scored in the 54th minute to give Saudi Arabia a 1-0 lead in the Group D match, and Fhad Almuwallad extended the lead in the 69th.

The victory gives Saudi Arabia 3 points to share the group lead with Nigeria, which defeated Guatemala 5-0 earlier Sunday.

Saudi Arabia faces Guatemala on Wednesday and Croatia plays Nigeria.
