A Swedish league match between Malmo FF and Djurgarden IF has been abandoned only 11 minutes into the game after several firecrackers were thrown onto the field.

Referee Martin Johansson told national news agency TT that at least five firecrackers hit the ground Saturday before he realized what was going on, saying ''we don't dare to keep on playing, the risks are too great and it concerns everyone's safety.''

This is the second time this season that one of Malmo's matches has been called off and the third in the league due to fan violence.

A match between Malmo and Helsingborg was abandoned when a spectator entered the field and pushed the team's goalkeeper, and a Syrianska-AIK game was called off when firecrackers were thrown close to a linesman.
