Germany will face some familiar rivals in qualifying for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and is pleased to have avoided some of the tougher teams.

Team manager Oliver Bierhoff says Germany is happy with Saturday's draw and glad to have avoided France.

Germany was drawn with Kazakhstan and Austria, two teams it has comfortably beaten in qualifying for next year's European Championship. The other teams the Germans will meet are Sweden, Ireland and Faeroe Islands.

Bierhoff attended the draw in Rio de Janeiro. Coach Joachim Loew chose to attend German Cup games this weekend.
