Oman progressed to the third round of Asia's World Cup qualifiers with a 2-0 win at Myanmar on Thursday, completing a 4-0 win over two legs.

Midfielder Fawzi Bashir scored in the 23rd minute and striker Ismail made it 2-0 in the 39th.

Oman manager Paul Le Guen - who led French club Lyon to a hat trick of titles - will now prepare his team for the group stage third qualifying round as he attempts to get the Gulf nation into its first World Cup.

There were 15 second-round matches being played around the Asian confederation on Thursday.
