PARIS (AP) – France's football league says that Qatar-based broadcaster Al-Jazeera has made an offer for the domestic TV rights for top-flight games from 2012 to 2016.
The channel will be competing with the current rights holder, Canal Plus, and Orange.
Al-Jazeera beat Canal Plus last month to the international rights for the top-flight Ligue 1.
The league didn't disclose the amount offered and will review all the bids later this week.
Canal Plus agreed to pay ?460 million ($657 million) per season for the 2008-2012 rights.
