BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (AP) – Newell's Old Boys and San Lorenzo drew 0-0 on Wednesday in an Argentine league match delayed for almost two weeks because of hooligan violence.
The match scheduled for June 4 was called off before it began after a police officer was shot by hooligans. He sustained only minor injuries, but the threat of more violence forced officials to reschedule.
The game made little difference in the Clausura championship, which was won on Sunday by Velez Sarsfield. Newell's stayed in last place with 13 points in 18 matches and San Lorenzo has 22 in 18.
Three matches in the 2011 Clausura championship had to be postponed because football-related violence.
