Mexico's Edgar Sosa will fight Uruguay's Julio "El Matador" Paz on July 2 in Mexico before seeking a match for the World Boxing Council, or WBC, flyweight title, agent Fausto Garcia said.

Sosa will fight Paz before seeking a bout against Thailand's Pongsaklek Wonjongkam, who holds the undisputed title, Garcia said.

The fight against Paz could take place in Mexico City or in Mexicali, San Luis Potosi, Huatulco or Tuxtla Gutierrez, Garcia said.

The 28-year-old Paz is a tough opponent and you have to go into the ring against him with the mentality that you are "going to leave with a victory to get ready to prepare to fight the Thai (champion)," Sosa, a former WBC light flyweight champion, said.

The 31-year-old Sosa has a record of 42-6, with 25 wins coming on knockouts.

Paz has a record of 12-1, with four victories coming via knockouts.
