Jeff Larentowicz scored twice for the defending MLS champion Rapids (4-3-5), who had their fourth straight draw.
Larentowicz opened the scoring by tapping in the rebound of his own failed penalty shot in the 27th minute. That started the league's fastest scoring binge since March 28, 2008, when Houston and San Jose also combined for four goals in six minutes.
Thierry Henry also scored for New York (4-2-5), which moved into a tie with Philadelphia for first place in the Eastern Conference. Henry's sixth goal of the season to tied DC United's Charlie Davis for second place in MLS. Los Angeles' Landon Donovan leads with seven.
Henry's goal tied the score at 1-1 in the 29th minute when Dwayne DeRosario centered it to the forward off a pass from Joel Lindpere and Henry fired it in from 19 yards out.
Larentowicz put the Rapids back ahead in the 32nd minute with his fourth of the season.
Rodgers then tapped a through ball over goalkeeper Matt Pickens' head for his fourth goal.
