A delegation of six Mexican senators is visiting Iran with the goal of tightening links in the industrial, energy, cultural and political areas.
"We want there to be more Mexico in the world" and "within a few years Mexico will be one of the 10 largest economies in the world," Sen. Gabriela Cuevas Barron, of the National Action Party, or PAN, said.
Accords were struck on the control and reduction of pollution during a meeting on Monday with the president of the Environmental Protection Organization, Masume Ebtekar, Cuevas said.
Sen. Ana Gabriela Guevara Espinoza, who chairs the migration affairs committee, discussed the policy of Iran toward emigrants and the treatment they receive in the educational area.
"I have become aware of the quality of the Iranian people," Sen Rosa Adriana Diaz Lizama said, adding that Iran was a "country of tradition and modernity."
The delegation arrived in Iran on Friday and has visited the cities of Isfahan and Shiraz, holding meetings with the vice minister of foreign affairs, Morteza Sarmadi, and the president of the Iranian Parliament, Ali Larijani, among others. EFE
