Diane Lane will play former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in a miniseries to air on the NBC network.

The project is currently being developed with Oscar-nominated Courtney Hunt in charge of writing the screenplay, NBC Entertainment Chairman man Bob Greenblatt told a gathering of the Television Critics Association.

No one has been signed yet to portray former President Bill Clinton in the four-hour miniseries.

The work focuses on Clinton as wife, mother, politician and Cabinet member from 1998 to the present, including her time as first lady, her 2008 presidential bid and her tenure as secretary of state.

"I think she's one of the most fascinating women of our time and this world," Greenblatt said. "And on the precipice of what we all assume will be her running for president, we think it's an interesting story to tell with classy producers and a great star."

The NBC executive made it clear that Clinton is not involved in the project in any way.

Sherryl Clark and James D. Stern will be executive producers of the miniseries. EFE
