The European Union should move quickly to pump money into job creation programs for young workers, French President François Hollande said Tuesday.

The millions of jobless young people across Europe need the support of society, Hollande said during the opening of an EU meeting in Paris to address unemployment.

Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy will close the conference later in the day.

The job creation program can be created with "specific funds," including revenues from the financial transactions tax, the French president said.

The EU's member states have been affected by high unemployment in the wake of the financial crisis that hit the region. EFE
