Argentine President Cristina Fernandez suffered a fainting spell that forced her to cancel her scheduled activities on Wednesday, according to a medical communique released by the Casa Rosada here.
The president "had an episode of lipotimia (sudden and temporary loss of consciousness), due to which it was recommended that she suspend her work activities and rest today," doctors said.
Fernandez had been scheduled to travel to Jujuy, some 1,500 kilometers (930 miles) northwest of Buenos Aires, to preside at a local ceremony along with Vice President Amado Boudou and Gov. Eduardo Fellner.
The Argentina leader has suffered from several fainting episodes in recent years, but she appears to have easily recovered from all of them. EFE
