Police in Syria released a dual Spanish-Syrian citizen arrested this week in Homs, the erstwhile detainee's brother told Efe Wednesday.

Fadi Ghaloul Gonzalez was released Tuesday night and is in good health, according to his brother Luay, who lives in the eastern Spanish city of Valencia.

The 29-year-old Fadi was arrested last Monday afternoon at the home he shares with his Syrian father and Spanish mother in Homs, one of the cities where the regime of President Bashar al-Assad has been heavily repressing opposition demonstrations.

The Spanish Embassy in Damascus had been making efforts to monitor the situation of the arrested man and to learn the reason for his arrest.

After the arrest of Ghaloul, who works as an economist, Syrian police confiscated his computer and other portable equipment belonging to him.
