Honduran authorities are searching for a missing reporter who works for a television channel in the northern city of San Pedro Sula, an official said Monday.
The National Police on Monday raided or searched several structures in the Santa Rita sector of the city, where Erlin Espinal, who was reported missing on Sunday, lives.
Officers detained a man identified as Angel Eduardo Ortez on the suspicion that he might know Espinal's whereabouts.
The search is also being participated in by four intelligence and investigation teams, the head of the Fusina security force, German Palma, told reporters.
Espinal is the coordinator of the "Hoy Mismo" news program on Channel 3 in San Pedro Sula, the second-largest city in Honduras.
He was heading home on Sunday morning after having been out with several friends, press reports say, when he went missing.
According to the state-run Human Rights Commission, some 43 reporters were murdered in Honduras between 2003 and 2013, but the majority of those cases have not been resolved. EFE
