A total of five people were shot to death in two separate incidents on Sunday in western El Salvador, the Attorney General's Office, or FGR, said.
Three of the victims were killed in the town of Ciudad Arce, in central La Libertad province, at Km. 41 on the highway connecting San Salvador with the western province of Santa Ana, said the FGR on its Twitter account.
Two teens, ages 15 and 16, and a 21-year-old woman were shot to death, the FGR said, although it did not provide their identities.
According to local media, the woman and one of the teens were siblings.
In the other incident, Juan Alberto Catalan Zelada, 19, and Miguel Angel Perez Galicia, 16, were shot to death in the municipality of Juayua, in the country's western Sonsonate province.
"One of the dead was tied up," the FGR said, without providing any further details.
El Salvador is one of the most violent countries in Central America with an average of 12 murders per day. EFE
