Part of the cast of the popular U.S. television series "Orange Is the New Black" is visiting Mexico to promote the second season of this comedy-drama about a group of female inmates' life together and the reasons they ended up in jail.
Actor Jason Biggs, who plays Larry, the fiance of leading character Piper Chapman (Taylor Schilling), a woman with a good position but who was sent to prison for a crime committed long ago, is one of the actors on hand for this promotional appearance.
With him are Nastasha Lyonne, who plays the part of ex-drug addict and lesbian Nicky; Dascha Polanco, who portrays Dayanara, an inmate having a secret relationship with a prison guard; and Laverne Cox, who has the role of Sophia, a transsexual woman sentenced for credit-card fraud.
On Friday afternoon the actors will walk the "black carpet" in a special ceremony at the Cuatro Caminos Photo Museum in Mexico City, at which the second season of the series will be presented that premiered in the United States on June 6.
The story "Orange Is the New Black" is based on the memoirs of Piper Kerman, in which she reveals how she spent her days in prison.
It is nominated in 12 categories for the 2014 Emmy Awards that honor the best in American television. EFE
