Six people were killed and at least 16 others injured Friday in a head-on collision between a bus and a tractor-trailer in eastern Bolivia, police said.

The accident occurred around 7:30 a.m. near the town of Basilio in Santa Cruz province, police Maj. Estanley Tintaya told the media, adding that investigators were working to determine the cause.

First responders remained at the scene pulling injured people and dead bodies from the wreckage of the bus, Tintaya said.

About 45 people were aboard the bus for the trip from Camiri to Santa Cruz city, the provincial capital. EFE
