Georgetown University officials say a student has died while on spring break in the Dominican Republic, though details of what happened remain sketchy.

“I am deeply saddened by this news and know that it is difficult for the many members of the Georgetown community who know Mark,” Olson wrote in a letter to students. "Please join our Georgetown community in remembering Mark’s family and friends in your thoughts and prayers during this time.”

Students have been advised that counseling staff and chaplains are available on campus.

“Please know that campus resources are available to students who may be coping with this news and feelings of sorrow and grief,” Olson wrote.

Olson said Georgetown officials are in contact with Adamsson’s family.
