Three members of the same family were fatally shot Friday in the Caribbean port city of La Ceiba, Honduran police said.
Killed were Miguel Angel Portillo, 75; Orlin Adonis Portillo, 17; and Cesar David Portillo, 17, a police spokesman told reporters.
Another member of the family, 5-year-old Manuel, was wounded in the assault.
The boy was taken to a nearby hospital, the spokesman said, without offering any information on the severity of his injuries.
Armed men entered the Portillo home sometime after midnight Thursday and began shooting, according to the initial police report.
Honduras suffered 85.5 homicides for every 100,000 residents in 2012, compared with a global median rate of 8.8 murders per 100,000, the Violence Observatory at the National Autonomous University said in a study released a year ago. EFE
