A 19-year-old charged with murdering a man in Pennsylvania said she is responsible for at least 22 deaths and that she began her serial killing career at age 13 as part of a Satanic cult.
CNN said police and the FBI are investigating the claims made by Miranda Barbour in an interview in prison with the Daily Item, a newspaper in Sunbury, Pennsylvania.
The woman said she and her husband Elytte Barbour had killed Troy LaFerrara, 42, whom they met via Craigslist and whom they strangled and stabbed to death in November in a parking lot.
Miranda and her husband were arrested in December for the man's death and said that LaFerrara had contacted her with the intention of having sex. Finally, the woman stabbed him more than 20 times, while her husband, who wanted to see what it was like to kill someone, strangled him from the back seat of the car they were in.
In the prison interview, Miranda Barbour said she had killed at least 22 people, although she had lost exact count.
Most of the murders were committed in Alaska, but she also killed people in Texas, North Carolina and California, she claimed.
She committed her first murder at age 13 at the behest of a man who introduced her to Satanic rites in Alaska, she said.
Miranda Barbour said she had a traumatic childhood, suffered abuse at age 4 and made the confession because she feels "it is time to get all of this out."
"I don't care if people believe me. I just want to get it out," she told the Daily Item. EFE
