At least 17 people died and more than 10 others were injured in a truck-bus collision in the western Argentine province of Mendoza, authorities said.

Most of those killed in the accident burned to death inside the bus, which - like the truck - burst into flames after impact, Gov. Francisco Perez told reporters.

Provincial Health Minister Matias Roby said the crash occurred when the bus with 30 people on board "was struck head-on by a truck with Brazilian license plates that had apparently been stolen" and was riding on the wrong side of the road.

The injured, including a pregnant woman, were taken to different hospitals in Mendoza province, Roby said.

Friday's accident occurred near the town of San Martin, some 45 kilometers (28 miles) east of the city of Mendoza and roughly 1,100 kilometers (685 miles) west of Buenos Aires. EFE
