At least one person was killed in a shooting Tuesday morning at Purdue University in the state of Indiana, John Cox, head of campus police, told a press conference.
Police detained a suspect, but, according to Cox, the individual refuses to cooperate with the investigation.
Authorities have released no details yet about the identity of the person in custody, but they are saying that both the suspect and the victim are men.
Cox added that this was not a random shooting and that the person who fired the shots was specifically targeting the victim.
The shooting occurred in the electrical engineering building of Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.
Authorities have reopened the university and report there is no longer any danger on campus, though the electrical engineering building remains closed.
Purdue University in Indiana has some 40,000 students. EFE
