A large and sophisticated marijuana grow house was found in Lessines, a city in southern Belgium, when firefighters responded to a fire in some abandoned warehouses, media reports said Sunday.

Firefighters discovered the grow house Saturday on the third floor of one of the warehouses.

"The surface of this floor is nearly 1,000 sq. meters (10,749 sq. feet). The plantation is enormous," Lessines fire chief Bauduin Vervaecke said.

The grow house was equipped with an irrigation system for the plants, Vervaecke said.

The cause of the fire has not been determined. EFE
