At least eight people were killed and 20 others wounded Thursday in a mortar attack on a military security service building in Homs, a city in western Syria, the opposition Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.
The death toll could rise due to the severity of the wounds sustained by some of the victims, who include children, the London-based group, which has a large network of activists on the ground across Syria, said.
The military security service building is in the Al Mahata district of Homs, the group said.
Two people, meanwhile, were wounded in a "terrorist attack" in Daraa, a city in southwestern Syria, on a group of Jordanian intellectuals visiting the country, the official Sana news agency reported.
Syria's civil war has claimed more than 100,000 lives since March 2011, the United Nations says. EFE
