Five activists from the feminist Femen movement who bared their breasts on which were written slogans supporting abortion were arrested Sunday by police after disrupting an anti-abortion march in downtown Madrid.
The five Femen members stationed themselves so as to block the column of anti-abortion marchers, bared their breasts and shouted slogans such as "My standards, my body" and "Freedom to abort."
Several of the thousands of march participants confronted the feminist activists, sprayed them with a red aerosol and shouted "terrorist aborters" at them before police subdued them and placed them against a wall out of the way of the marchers.
Several thousand people participated in the demonstration, which was organized by the Right to Life movement to ask the government to fulfill its commitment to reform the country's abortion law.
The march took place under cold and rainy conditions in the Spanish capital. EFE
