At least five people, including a 6-month-old baby, died Monday in a gas explosion at an apartment building in the Moscow suburbs, the Russian Interior Ministry said.
Also among the victims were the baby's mother and two elderly people, according to the Russian news agency Interfax.
The explosion caused the partial collapse of at least eight apartments and the rooftop of a nine-story apartment building in the suburb of Zagorskiye Dali.
Emergency management services continue working where the tragedy struck, since security forces say at least three more people could still be buried under the ruins.
After several hours' work, the rescue team pulled a survivor from the rubble, a man who was taken to a Moscow clinic in extremely serious condition.
Another six of those saved were taken to hospital after their injuries were treated at the scene of the explosion, where "six emergency medical units are working," Russia's Health Ministry said.
Residents of the building have been relocated to a sanitarium and a municipal arts center near where the explosion occurred. EFE
