Mexico City's 4th Corona Capital music festival opened with performances by iconic 1970s New York band Blondie, The XX and M.I.A.
The nearly sold-out 2013 Corona Capital festival is treating Mexico City residents to performances by more than 50 pop and rock bands, such as Travis and Phoenix.
The Queens of the Stone Age, Arctic Monkeys and The Breeders, who will perform songs from the highly praised "Last Splash" album, will close the festival on Sunday.
The weather forecast for Mexico City this weekend calls for a 30 percent chance of rain and isolated thunderstorms.
Festivalgoers should wear light clothing and pack umbrellas to deal with the rain, organizers said.
The Federal District's public transit system is offering a special service covering different sections of Mexico City for those planning to attend the Corona Capital festival, with bus routes operating until 2:00 a.m., officials said. EFE
