Two Guatemalans employed at a rock-crushing plant in the southern Mexican state of Chiapas were hacked to death and a third was wounded by unidentified individuals, a police spokesman in the city of Tuxtla Chico told Efe.
The plant manager called police around 6:00 a.m. Saturday after discovering the bodies of the two dead workers and the wounded man.
The dead workers were identified as Mario Alfonso Barrios, 55, and Gudelio Morales, 60, police said.
Police informed the Chiapas Special Prosecutor's Office for Crimes against Immigrants of the incident at the plant, which is located at kilometer 6 of the old highway to Tuxtla Chico.
State police and the Federal Police launched an operation to try to find the assailants, the municipal police spokesman said.
The wounded man, identified as 45-year-old Romulo Barrios, was taken to the regional hospital in Tapachula, where he is listed in serious condition with machete wounds in several parts of his body.
Barrios has not been able to give investigators a statement, the police spokesman said. EFE
