Revenues from international tourists totaled $8.3 billion in the January-July period, up 7.2 percent compared to the same period in 2012, the Mexican Tourism Secretariat said.
Tourism revenues "continue rising this year," the secretariat said, citing a Bank of Mexico report.
Tourist arrivals by air, the main mode of transportation for foreign visitors, are rising, the secretariat said.
Mexico welcomed 7.5 million foreign visitors who arrived by air from Jan. 1 to July 31, up 7 percent from the same period last year, the Tourism Secretariat said.
All sectors of the tourism industry grew in the seven-month period, the central bank report said.
Mexico welcomed 23.4 million tourists in 2012, generating more than $11 billion in revenues. EFE
