Panamanian authorities arrested six people and seized more than two tons of cocaine in two separate operations, the government said Monday.
The National Aeronaval Service, or Senan, said Monday in a communique that it seized 2,201 kilograms (4,848 pounds) of cocaine last Friday on the island of Bastimento, which borders on Costa Rica.
Three Panamanians were arrested and a 36-foot-long speedboat was confiscated.
Meanwhile, Panama's Senafront border agency announced Monday that it seized 210 packets of cocaine during an operation in Darien province, which borders on Colombia.
The agency did not say how much the 210 packets weighed, but it mentioned that they were found hidden below the double bottom of a boat whose crewmembers, two of them Colombians and the third a minor who was not further identified, were arrested. EFE
