Spanish infrastructure company ACS said Thursday its Dragados USA Inc. unit won a $75 million contract to build express lanes on I-75 in Florida's Miami-Fort Lauderdale metropolitan area.

The contract covers the construction of four express toll lanes on a 10-kilometer (6.2-mile) stretch of the heavily used highway, ACS said.

The project includes the construction of the access roads to the I-595 reversible express toll lanes to serve traffic between I-595 and I-75.

The contract covers the installation of systems to manage the flow of traffic on the roads and the connection to the existing traffic control system.

The Florida Department of Transportation, or FDOT, expects the project to help improve the flow of traffic in the Miami-Fort Lauderdale metro area. EFE
