Theatrical producers are inviting Los Angeles area Hispanic women ages 35-55 to try out for parts in the Spanish-language version of the popular comedy "Menopause The Musical."
Auditions for "Menopausia El Musical" will be held Aug. 3-6 at Hollywood's Montalban Theater and are open to anyone, Mambo Casting's Orlette Ruiz said.
No previous acting experience is required, she said.
"Menopause The Musical" has been playing more or less continuously at various venues since it first opened in 2001 at a small theater in Orlando, Florida.
Created by former ad-industry executive Jeanie Linders, the play is about the encounter of four women from different backgrounds in the lingerie section of a department store, where they share their experiences of menopause.
Producers are looking for Latinas to portray a powerful executive type; an enthusiastic but naive housewife; an aging soap-opera star; and an earth mother/flower child.
"Menopausia El Musical" will open at the Montalban Theater on Oct. 11 for an initial four-week run.
The play includes 25 pop hits from the 1960s, '70s and '80s "that keep the audience animated and dancing in the aisles," Ruiz said. EFE
