At least two people were killed and four others injured when the wall of a house collapsed due to the heavy rains in Honduras, a fire department spokesman said Sunday.

The victims, all members of the same family, were hit by the falling wall in a neighborhood in eastern Tegucigalpa on Saturday night, fire departmen spokesman Oscar Triminio said.

The six victims were chatting in the yard of their house after the torrential rains that hit central Honduras.

The wall did not have a solid foundation and collapsed in the saturated soil, Triminio said.

Firefighters and emergency management office personnel assisted the victims.

Hondurans should use good building materials to prevent collapses in houses, emergency management office director Lisandro Rosales said. EFE
