Aeromexico, Mexico's largest airline, said it was adding flights from Mexico City to Orlando and Miami, Florida.
The expanded offerings are part of a strategy to add capacity during the peak summer travel season, focusing mainly on destinations in the United States, the carrier said.
Two additional daily flights were added June 22 on the Mexico City-Orlando route, on which the airline already offered one flight, while the number of daily direct flights from the Mexican capital to Miami will expand from three to four on July 1, the airline said.
Grupo Aeromexico's four units are Aeromexico, Mexico's largest transcontinental airline, Aeromexico Connect, Aeromexico Travel and EMA, which provides aviation maintenance services.
Banamex, a unit of U.S. financial giant Citigroup, and a group of Mexican investors acquired Aeromexico for $249.1 million in 2007.
Aeromexico, which is listed on the Mexico City Stock Exchange, flies to 46 cities in Mexico, 18 destinations in the United States, 11 cities in Latin America, three destinations in Europe, two cities in Asia and one destination in Canada. EFE
