Investigators in Mexico state, which surrounds the Federal District and forms part of the Mexico City metropolitan area, are looking for three police officers who allegedly raped a minor and murdered her boyfriend, prosecutors said.

The incident occurred around 2:30 a.m. Friday in the city of Chimalhuacan, where police found the couple inside a vehicle, the Mexico state Attorney General's Office said.

The officers asked the couple to get out of the car so they could question them.

Two of the officers spoke with the young man while a third officer took the young woman to a nearby location and sexually assaulted her, the AG's office said in a statement.

The officers then let the couple go and the young woman went home and told her relatives what happened.

The family sought help from neighbors and the group found the patrol car.

The young man was shot and killed during a confrontation with the officers, the AG's office said.

Investigators are looking for three Chimalhuacan municipal police department officers, the AG's office said.

"The Mexico state prosecutor's office reiterates that there will be no impunity for crimes committed in this jurisdiction, especially those committed by public servants responsible for public safety and the administration of justice," the Mexico state Attorney General's Office said. EFE
