Two people were shot and killed at a nightclub in Hoover, a suburb of Birmingham, the largest city in the state of Alabama, local authorities said Saturday.
Police Capt. Jim Coker reported that two people where shot Friday night in the Martini Bar on the outskirts of the city.
The two victims were declared dead at the crime scene.
No details have yet been revealed about the motive for the killing nor the identity of those slain.
Police said the victims were two adults but did not specify whether they were men or women.
The shooting comes after the massacre at a school in Newtown, Connecticut, in which 28 people died, including 20 children.
On Friday another four people died in a shootout on a rural highway in Pennsylvania, in which two police officers were also wounded. EFE
