Colombia's National Police on Monday seized 1.5 tons of cocaine in the El Bosque freight terminal in this Caribbean port city.
The shipment, valued at an estimated $5 million, was inside a container in 60 canvas bags, and its destination was Mexico's Los Zetas drug cartel, according to what National Police commander Gen. Jose Leon Riaño told the media.
The coke was aboard a vessel bound for Puerto Cortes, Honduras.
"According to intelligence analysis, the drug was the property of the Urabeños," a criminal band operating in Colombia, the general added.
He also said that so far this year, Colombian authorities have seized 185 tons of cocaine and that production of the drug in Colombia during 2011 was estimated at 335 metric tons. EFE
