A man wounded 22 children and an adult with a knife on Friday at the entrance to an elementary school in the central Chinese province of Henan, the official Chinese news agency said.
The man identified as Min Yingjun, 36, was arrested by police shortly after the attack, which occurred at 7:40 a.m. at the Chenpeng School in Xinyang municipality.
The news agency gave no further details about the victims' condition.
In the spring of 2011, a wave of attacks on children in Chinese schools and day care centers left some 20 dead and 80 wounded, most of them minors, and sparked a debate in China about the security of those centers and the real causes of the violence.
Also reported on Friday was the arrest of a 25-year-old man with the family name of Hu, who wounded five women with a penknife in the Beijing subway over the past few days. EFE
