Five people, among them a pregnant woman, died when their vehicle collided with a truck in Sao Paulo state, Brazilian police reported Monday.

The accident occurred Sunday night in the area of Taquarituba on a highway connecting the Sao Paulo region with the neighboring state of Parana.

The five victims, all of them under age 25, all died at the scene when the driver tried to pass another vehicle in a no-passing zone and crashed head-on into the truck, according to traffic police sources quoted by the Estado news agency.

Among the dead is a 23-year-old woman who was four months pregnant.
