The Airshow China trade fair, which ended over the weekend in the southern city of Zhuhai, generated contracts worth $11.8 billion, the press reported Monday.
The Nov. 13-18 trade show, China's largest aviation industry event, produced its best results ever.
The 9th edition of the fair, which drew 338,000 people, featured 650 exhibitors from 39 countries, the official Xinhua news agency reported.
Airshow China is held every two years in Zhuhai, a city located adjacent to the former Portuguese colony of Macau, and has become the country's leading air transportation event and one of the largest industry trade shows in Asia.
China's airlines will need more than 4,200 planes in the next two decades, making the country one of the world's main markets for commercial passenger aircraft, experts said during the fair. EFE
