Colombian rapper Roberth Steven Barrera was killed by unknown assailants in a crime-ridden residential district of Medellin, in the second slaying of an urban-music artist here in less that two weeks, members of the local hip-hop movement said Saturday.

Barrera, 17, stage name "Garra", was gunned down Friday night in Comuna 13, a complex of rough neighborhoods on Medellin's western outskirts.

The crime was reported by the leader and musical manager of the C15 rap group, Jeison Alexander Castaño, who just three days before warned, along with others of the same group, about the dangers facing them and their colleagues.

Comuna 13, the scene of constant territorial clashes among armed gangs, has seen 10 rappers murdered there over the past few years.

The slaying of this artist came 11 days after the murder in the same residential area of "El Duke," the stage name of Elider Varela.

El Duke, founder of the La Kamada School of Hip-Hop and of the Comando Elite de Ataque group, was murdered on Oct. 30 before dawn in El Salado, another neighborhood of the hillside Comuna 13 complex. EFE
