At least eight people died and seven were injured in two traffic accidents in the Dominican Republic, according to emergency workers and the local media.
Five people were killed and three were injured in a collision between a truck and an SUV Friday afternoon on the road that links the northwestern provinces of Valverde and Santiago Rodriguez.
Dominican media said a one-year-old girl has been hospitalized in the city of Mao with injuries suffered in that crash.
Emergency workers told reporters that the causes of the accident have not yet been determined.
That accident occurred hours after three men in a small SUV were killed when the vehicle collided with a bus on the road that connects Santo Domingo with the town of Yamasa.
Four other people were injured. EFE
