Three prisoners died and 11 others were hurt in a brawl at a police lockup in the northeastern Brazilian town of Barreiras, authorities said.
Killed were brothers Cleosmario Lucas da Conceição Monteiro and Osmário Lucas Monteiro Filho as well as Fabiano Pereira dos Santos, the Bahia state police said.
All three men were in their mid-20s.
The victims were apparently targeted because the other prisoners suspected them of tipping off the jailers to a pair of recent escape attempts, police said.
Around 20 prisoners set mattresses on fire and tore bars out of the cell doors to use as weapons.
The injured were treated in the infirmary at the police complex in Barreiras. EFE
